Redefinition of Soul

Thinking
analysis
silence
contemplation
honesty
no hide that reality
behind
the faccade
that choice created
fear
tears
reluctance
joy
deep breath
what to do, oh what to do

sit on the edge
of the emptying nest
and look
back into the nest
longing
to crawl back in
to hide
beneath the downy fluff
that is what
remains of the old definition
and hide
and HIDE
and look
out over the edge
into the great beyond
where the fledgelings have escaped
and found their own definitions
what is the color
that defines
what is the song
that calls
what purpose
now
that the purpose is grown
dare I try
my fragile wings
the question irritates
an unscratchable itch
what if I fail
what if I don’t
all of the questions
that I helped them through
I now re-face on my own.
stretch
flex
deep breath
tears and fears
Know tears
know fears
not no tears
nor no fears
Neither tears
nor fears
either inherently bad
both
spur
the step
from the edge
of this
silient
dusty and safe
nest
and into
whatever waits
all of the fledgelings
young and old
as they take flight
into the great unknown.
