Stuck

She was a fine woman
taught much to many
for very many years
she taught well the lessons
of language and learning

When the voices
that argue
in my brain
scream the words
should be drunk
not
should be drank
did you see the beautiful dear over their in the meadow
I’m going too ride with you 2day
it’s her I blame

She taught well
learn new words
(today’s is Golconda…
the treasure trove that is
voCABulary)
never stop growing

and

The quality of mercy is not strained

I blame the teachers
who
once upon a time
were allowed to teach us
to revel in
the joy of learning
and if I could but would
I would go back in time
and blame her with a hug.

and keep the voices
in my head
