I remember
The first time
Every time
The phone calls
THAT phone call
In the elevator
Unknown man
Unseen face
Who carried her body from the school parking lot
The fear
The dripping wet
–Thank God and Vegas not lifeless
Body dragged from the pool
The fear and confusion
The anger at the words
Frustration at the ignorance
— and still more ignorance
— injustices
— to add insult to injury
Today for me
It is finally just memories
The one in ten
That seized in the sunshine
And slunk into the shadows
Today we hug them
And mourn them
And proudly wear the purple
To remind the world
Of the people
Behind the seizures
