The Thrust of Trust

One hand reaching out
in fear and trepidation
will it be scorned
mocked and misread
or taken for all it is meant
In the course of events
when humanity is being lost
and tossed
there is nothing more frightening
than a hand
outstretched
in nothing more
or less
than the friendship that is implied
and when bitten
rather than taken
the fear
overtakes
the trust
