Crickets greet the dawn
leaves beneath doe hooves crunch
treasure solitude

fog surrounds buildings
morning burns away clinging
drops slide from hat brim

winter’s dismal gloom
frigid shades of gray brown white
Beauty abounds here

Fog settles silent
Shroud the world in confusion
Look out and remember

quiet summer night–
exhaustion screams with hot pain
sleep, fond memory

summer evening chill–
gull and hawk cry with children
at the setting sun

hickory wind cool
leaves rustle, green shadows dance;
firetrucks scream shrill

exhaustion settles,
heavy cloying smothers gags;
shrilly rings the phone

tentative she creeps
shyly in the cool oak shade;
red truck backfires
